I backed this project on Kickstarter and can say that … I backed this project on Kickstarter and can say that this oven meets all of the claims it makes.Being a college student I find cooking on a daily basis takes time and patience. My solution has been to keep the oven pointing North-South and mirrors close so that the oven gets sun for an hour and cooks meal two hours before I’d reach home in the evenings. That way it would be ready by the time I’d be home and hungry. The glass chamber keeps food warm if not hot. I’ve burned my tongue a few times. I keep the handle pointing South, else it and the rubber gasket get hot.I bake cakes and cookies, cook rice, Indian curries and lentil soups. I’m vegetarian so I can’t say how well it cooks meat or eggs but I think it should perform as specified. I keep a little extra water so that the food doesn’t dry and then burnAs long as you read the simple instructions and remember them while handling this oven, you can not damage it. Make sure you anchor it on windy…

‘boiled’ eggs (as they call it) are a poor choice for the GoSun because you can’t tell when … So far I have cooked roasted eggs, fried eggs with toast, hot-dogs, brownies and boiled water with my GoSun. I live in Hawaii and did my tests at noon on clear summer days.I roasted two eggs for 30 minutes. I cracked one open, it was not even soft-boiled. I left the other one in for 15 more minutes, and it was somewhat overcooked. Really, ‘boiled’ eggs (as they call it) are a poor choice for the GoSun because you can’t tell when the egg is cooked properly. The next day, I put some butter in the tray and cracked two eggs into it, and rolled up two slices of bread. After 40 minutes and some not very graceful technique for unrolling the bread, I had some dry toast and eggs over-hard. Again, cooking was difficult because the cooking time isn’t known in advance, and you can’t see what you are cooking while it cooks. Overall I don’t think eggs are a good example for the GoSun and don’t recommend it.The next day I made some hot-dogs. This took 20…

Burning Man friends call it the “Tot Saber” because it looked like a lightsaber made of tater tots! Recommended! There is so much to love about the GoSun Sport Stove! It’s portable. It’s easy to use. It’s very eco-friendly. It gets people talking about energy and new ways of thinking about taking care of our needs in this world. It works as a “thermos” as well as a means of cooking: The vacuum insulating properties of the design mean food will stay hot inside long after it’s removed from direct sunlight..cook now, eat later and your grub will still be piping hot!The primary limitation I experience is the size and shape of the cooking tube. In addition, when deployed for cooking one should of course be very careful not to bang up the tube. By necessity of design, one needs to be very conscious of what shapes of food will and won’t work inside the tube. No rotisserie chickens are going to be cooked in the GoSun. (But chicken nuggets? Knock yourself out!) Bite-size is a good rule of thumb – brussels sprouts, apple slices, tater tots, dumplings, hot dogs, small baked goods, etc…
